Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.
I fell in love with golden retrievers a long time ago. My first girl, Pysia (PRISCILLA VOM GOLDEN Błękitny Skarb), came to our home in 2000, and very soon I realized that one golden retriever is just not enough. Less than a year later Waleria (Complement OAZA) moved in and soon I sunk into the golden world.
I went to some shows with Pysia, but we were not too successful. She was a nice bitch but shows were none of her things, she was much happier working as a therapy dog. Having a dog that didn’t really like shows, I was not very keen on going to shows either, but it all changed thanks to Wal, a natural born star. Show ring was exactly the place where she was happy to be, and she really knew how to show off. We were going to shows a lot, and showing was only the prelude, as soon I started to think of becoming a breeder – and this is how the story of the Dedykacja affix started.
In 2003 we welcomed Pysia’s first litter and around the same time another lovely girl, Zuzia (Nowa Sansara CUDNA ZUZIA) came to us from Belgium. I also started looking for a perfect mate for Wala, and nobody even thought the story would come to its end quite soon…
In 2004 we had another nice litter from Pysia, but due to some complications she was not to become a mother again. A couple months later Wal’s hips were x-rayed and there came the shock: HD D/D. I would have never guessed, she always moved beautifully and without any effort, could run, jump and play as much as she wanted… and still… By that time I had a mating arranged out of which I was expecting a bunch of really nice puppies – and in a minute all those plans were gone.
And very soon I had to give up on Zuzia as well. Beautiful as she was, she hated shows even more than Pysia, and she also was extremely sensitive and far too timid as for a golden retriever… That was not something I would like to see in her puppies.
So, this is how one day I had three promising girls in my kennel, and a couple months later I was left with none. I decided to enjoy my life with my girls anyway, forgetting the shows, breeding and all that stuff.
And then in 2015 something unexpected happened.
In June Wala passed away, the last of the first three that was still with me. She had been ill for a long time and thinking of a puppy was the last thing I would do – and yet, in July Michasia (MALINA Rozmachany Ogon) moved in. I did not have any plans at that time, just being grateful to this tiny thing for brightening my days that were not really happy without Wal being around… But in time I noticed that my sweet little girl is growing to be a really pretty lady… So, we went to a show… then to another one, and another… and all of a sudden I found myself thinking of how it would be to have puppies in my house again. I started looking for THE stud dog… In the meantime, I did Michasia’s health clearances, and when I knew she’s fine to be a mother, the decision was ready to be officially made. The only thing missing was the affix, as I did not want to use Dedykacja anymore. To me, with the Dedykacja dogs gone, that chapter is closed.
Possibly I would have never thought of breeding again if Michasia were not around. This is hard to explain, but I have a feeling that getting her was one of those coincidences turning one’s world upside down. So it should not be a surprise that it was also Michasia who helped me with finding the right affix for our kennel. Michasia is my bliss… Her pedigree name translates to raspberry… Replace the rasp with the bliss and there you go, BLISSBERRY it is.
